Marian Medical Center, in Santa Maria, California, held its annual Environmental Health Fair on August 29th and The Tailwinds Bicycle Cub was invited to present the club’s features and encourage employees to ride their bikes to work. Peter Stonehewer headed up the “committee” assisted by Tim Brookshire, Diana Cantero, and club president, Dave Cantero. Several people stopped by to ask about bike riding and we were able to share our business card and bike riding safety information with them. Central Coast Cyclery, Main Street Cycles, and Pedal Power lent the club bikes for “show and tell.” Included in the day was a dance presentation by a group of Mexican Aztec descendants. At the end of their presentation they invited some of the Fair participants to dance with them. Dave Cantero volunteered to join them thereby paying homage to his Mexican ancestry. A good time was had by all. |
